Inspired by the post high school/pre college “gap year” idea and we are are two 50-somethings who decided to take a break ourselves. We are saying so long to our professional jobs and our home and heading out on the road for an adult gap year. Ride along as we discover new places, people, food, drink and music in our DIY built camper van, Coddiewomple or “The Womp” (so named after the old English slang term coddiwomple, which means “to travel purposefully toward an as-yet unknown destination). We will be doing a good amount of hiking, biking and kayaking with time to explore places more fully and thoughtfully than we ever have before. I expect that we will also learn about ourselves along the way too. We will share our successes and our mistakes with you.

We hope you will enjoy this journal, and if you are considering a journey like this one, or van life, perhaps it will give you ideas and inspiration to hit the road.
