Love this one. I feel seen—like y’a’ll might know me a little bit better by taking in my formative landscapes. That Texas/New Mexico diphthong is mighty.
(It sometimes seems like I spend half my life trying to explain Texas to NJ friends ... and a good bit of time also doing the reverse. I sometimes feel like nobody else loves both places like I do.)
Yes! I feel like the slow travel- 6 weeks wandering Texas gave us some real insight, Sally. And I can see how trying to explain NJ to west Texans can be a challenge! Our existence up north is like trying to describe living on another planet!
Hi Annie! A friend who you met at Alafia bike park, Amy, sent me this link. We are right on your tails, traveling in Magoo, our Sprinter house, from St. Pete heading for Colorado and hopefully some pow, then on to West Coast.. Where you headed?
Hi Julie! We are in Lower NM desert at the moment and are heading west- avoiding colder higher elevations (our van, Coddiewomple is not a snow friendly vehicle!) we are in NM and AZ until about mid March then into CA and up the CA and Oregon coast. Perhaps we can connect! Best, Amie & Tom
I understand. The cold in Texas has made me wonder what's wrong with me! We are heading to Vegas after skiing. We hear the biking is good. Did you guys ride Palo Duro south of Amarillo? We're headed there now. Yes! Let's meet We are going same route just slower. Don't miss Sedona.

Yes, I feel like I get it, more than before. I see you, my friend. We all need to see each other better, yes?
Especially loved this one. A good reminder that we need to keep an open mind and get out of the NE bubble. Stay well and keep 'em coming!
Thank you, Sandy. Bubbles are powerful, getting out of our own is needed and necessary in these complicated, charged times.
You give a great thumbnail sketch of Texas culture which I found very informative!
Thank you, Kenny!
I love that you "got" Texas and Texans!
