Yes! We are trying to have open minds and hearts as we travel; we’ve found that easy smiles and open ended questions bridge most divides and we have more in common with the people we meet than we initially realize.
I truly enjoy your storytelling… You have a gift. 🙌🏽🤠
Living in Oregon, it almost seems incredulous that we haven’t gone to the Sisters’ rodeo down the street. You’ve inspired us to do this next year. Living back in a rural area, I have come to really appreciate the cowboy spirit and the connectedness of people. My centrist self feels we might be of different political cloth, but we will never truly understand each other unless we do genuine acts with each other. 💜
Forgive the delay in my reply, Amy- busy few weeks. First, thank you for the kind words. I am enjoying the writing process so much on this journey. Second, Absolutely GO to the Rodeo. Whatever the politics it is well worth the experience.- a window into cowboy/western culture and traditions. Plus, it’s just plain fun.
Hey there, sorry for the delayed reply (the last few days’ worth of news had me distracted, alas.) Good idea, will send the article to the Rodeo and some of the local papers- you never know! As for mutton busting, it would definitely toughen up anyone! And we need the blue youth to be SUPER strong right now, for certain👊.
This is the spirit of America! We experienced the same excitement at our first rodeo in Cody, Wyoming. Thanks for the reminder not to be so cynical.

This is hilarious. Glad you had a good time. :-)
It was so much fun. Eye opening for sure!

You really captured the scene Amie! Wonder if anyone who runs the rodeo would be interested in your ‘Outsider POV’?
I think we should be bringing Mutton Busting back East to toughen up the Blue Youth of America. 😁
